Blarggs are enemies in the Yoshi series that rise out of the lava and charge or block Yoshi. Blarggs tend to look red with two black eyes and a big single eyebrow.

Super Mario World[edit]

In Super Mario World, Blarggs first appear in the third world, in Vanilla Dome 3, they hide in the lava and when the player gets near them, they jump out. However, if the player is careful, they can dodge them. The player can use either Mario or Luigi to spin jump on the Blarggs, or use Yoshi to jump on them (a normal jump).

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[edit]

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, they pop out of lava and attack Yoshi. They can be defeated with an egg.

Yoshi's Story[edit]

In Yoshi's Story, they are red and yellow in a magma pattern, have two arms raised and cartoony eyes and can only be hurt if Yoshi throws an egg. When hit, Blargg will go back into the lava. They only appear in Blargg's Boiler.

Yoshi's Island DS[edit]

In Yoshi's Island DS, they reappear, having the same abilities as in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Mario series[edit]

Blaargs have also appeared in both Super Mario Galaxy games, as well as New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They act the same as in all other Yoshi games.

Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]

In this game, Blargg first appears in Lava Scarves and Red-Hot Blarggs where he is made of a scarf supported by a wire.

  • Blarggs were set to reappear in Super Mario 64 but were scrapped due to graphical issues.
  • It is ironic in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi Island that lava can melt anything, but Yoshi can defeat it with an egg.
