The Fire Flower is a power-up Mario can collect, allowing him to shoot fireballs, which can harm enemies and melt frozen coins. Mario retains the ability to collect this power-up while riding Yoshi. In certain games, this is a progressive power-up, meaning it is a Super Mushroom while Mario is small, and a bigger power-up, in this case a Fire Flower, when Mario already has a power-up.
