Frog Pirates[1] are a species of frog in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. Frog Pirates live in the swamps and wetlands of Yoshi's Island, and they are primarily encountered in World 3. If a Yoshi gets too close to a Frog Pirate, it lashes out its tongue to try and steal Baby Mario. Stepping on a Frog Pirate's head only disables it for a moment, so Yoshi should instead throw an Egg at the frog or swallow it. Spitting out a Frog Pirate causes it to fall off the screen, although it later respawns.
A notable Frog Pirate member named Prince Froggy serves as the mid-boss of World 3. Unlike the other bosses, Prince Froggy has no visible differences to his species. In the Japanese version, Prince Froggy and Frog Pirates have the same name (Gerogēro).
