New Super Mario Bros. U
Release date 18th November 2012

New Super Mario Bros. U is the sequel of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Players can play as Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad, or Blue Toad. Also in this game players can play as their Mii. If one plays on the Wii U GamePad, they can either give their teammates advantages or disadvantages with placing blocks which can be done by tapping the GamePad screen.

This game marks the re-appearance of the Baby Yoshis with special abilities. Magenta Baby Yoshi can turn into a balloon for the player to fly upwards with, Blue Baby Yoshis can spit out bubbles to turn enemies into coins, and Glowing Baby Yoshis can light up dark areas, similar to the Bulb Berry Yoshi you can obtain in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

On September 13th, 2018 it was announced during a Nintendo Direct that New Super Mario Bros. U alongside New Super Luigi U would be ported to the Nintendo with the title being New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe with it now featuring Nabbit as a playable character and Toadette replacing Blue Toad (who is now a reskin in Yellow Toad's slot). Toadette has the ability to transform into Peachette when grabbing a crown.

The gameplay is similar to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, with new power-ups like the Super Acorn, which is an item that gives the player a Flying Squirrel Suit. They also have the choice to play as one of their created Mii characters, or even choose Mario, Luigi, Blue and Yellow Toad, like in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Baby Yoshis are back, and players can carry them when hatched out of an egg.

The game starts out with Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad, and Princess Peach all having a meal at the Castle. Bowser, and all of the other Koopalings show up in their own Airship. Bowser then uses a mechanical arm to grab the four heroes, and flings them far away into Acorn Plains, the first world of the game. Mario points at the ship and the 4 go and rescue Peach.
