Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a roleplaying game starring Mario and friends. It is the sequel to Paper Mario and the second in the franchise. Yoshi appears as a playable character, although his color is random. In a rare instance, Yoshi can actually speak English.

After testing, it was discovered that Yoshi's color is actually determined by the amount of time the player takes to hatch them.
