Paragoombas are Goombas who have wings, causing them to jump around. When stomped on, instead of dying, a Paragoomba will turn into a normal Goomba which can then be stomped again to be defeated, Paragoombas also sometimes drop Micro-Goombas which can make them a bit more troublesome.
Super Mario World
Although normal Paragoombas don't appear in Super Mario World, a winged variety of the Galoomba called the Winged Goomba does, they behave very similarly to Paragoombas. Additionally, parachuting Galoombas called Para-Goombas appear.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Paragoombas appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii in several levels starting with World 2. They walk around just like a basic Goomba but they also have the ability to skip and fly briefly thanks to their wings. The Paragoomba actually takes two hits to defeat, one hit to knock loose the wings, and a second to finish them off. Fireball attacks, Projectile attacks (Shells, Barrels, etc.), as well as the use of a Starman can instantly defeat them. Iceballs can also freeze them. Yoshi can also swallow them.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Paragoombas reappear in their first 3D appearance. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Paragoombas are commonly seen flying around not too high above the ground. Unlike earlier games, a single stomp can defeat a Paragoomba however, it takes two spins to defeat one, also Yoshi now needs to use his tongue twice to finish off a Paragoomba. Other attacks however, can take care of a Paragoomba without an issue. Paragoombas are found in many Galaxies such as the Hightail Falls Galaxy and the Throwback Galaxy. Aditionally, a larger varitey of the Paragoomba called the Grand Paragoomba appears in this game.
New Super Mario Bros. U
Paragoombas also appear in New Super Mario Bros. U. In this game, they behave identically to how they do in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and only appear in Meringue Clouds, the same attacks as before can also defeat them. Additionally, Baby Yoshi can also defeat a Paragoomba with ease. Similar types of Goombas called Balloon Goombas also appear in this game.
