Piranhacus Giganticus
A Piranhacus Giganticus is a larger type of Piranha Plant, they are essentially Big Piranha Plants found in giant Pipes. They rise out of the Pipes just like a normal sized Piranha Plant except they are much bigger. They constantly make attempts to snack on Mario and Yoshi whenever encountered and usually appear alongside other giant enemies.

Piranhacus Giganticus are seen in Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the Supermassive Galaxy alongside other giant enemies such as Grand Goombas, Gargantua Koopa Troopas, Mega Thwomps, Huge Paragoombas, and Mega Wigglers. They rise out of the giant sized Pipes found throughout the Galaxy very slowly but their larger size makes them much harder to avoid. They are completely invincible and cannot be defeated, in this game, they are quite possibly the largest species of Piranha Plants.
Piranhacus Giganticus also appear in New Super Mario Bros. U. In this game, they can be found in Soda Jungle alongside Grand Goombas and Gargantua Koopa Troopas. In this game however, a Piranhacus Giganticus can be defeated with a Starman, a Koopa Shell, or the use of 3 fireballs. The Piranhacus Giganticus is much smaller in this game than in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Another type of large Piranha Plant, the Super Piranha Plant also appears in this game. These Piranha Plants are too large to even fit in Pipes.

- Piranhacus Giganticus are the few types of Piranha Plants that have made significant size changes throughout the series (for example, in Super Mario Galaxy 2, they're probably larger than the Super Piranha Plant, while in New Super Mario Bros. U, they're only somewhat bigger than a basic Piranha Plant). Despite this, they've always remained larger variations of the Piranha Plant.
- Their name appears to be scientific for Gigantic Piranha Plant.
