Red Yoshi is an red alternate coloration of the Yoshis first appearing in Super Mario World. They wear dark blue boots.

Super Mario World[edit]

In this game, they were able to spit fireballs when they ate any colored Koopa Troopa. Other than that, they act exactly the same as a normal Yoshi.

Super Mario World II: Yoshi's Island![edit]

A Red Yoshi is playable in the seventh level of each world. Pink Yoshi looks a lot like it in this game but this was later changed.

Yoshi's Story[edit]

Red Yoshi returns in Yoshi's Story as a playable character. It now has blue shoes, which is the current design. Its favorite fruit is Apples just like Pink Yoshi.

Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance III[edit]

It appears exactly the same as in Super Mario World 2, except it keeps its blue shoes from Yoshi's Story.

Yoshi's Island DS[edit]

Again, Red Yoshis are playable in the seventh level of each world.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii [edit]

Red Yoshis were supposed to appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but they were replaced by Pink Yoshi. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Red Yoshi would've had a red egg.

Mario Tennis Open[edit]

Red Yoshi is an unlockable character in Mario Tennis Open. It can be unlocked via a QR code. Its skill is Technique, much like Pink Yoshi, Peach, Daisy and Luma.

Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]

This Yoshi is the only non original Yoshi who is never unraveled by Kamek as he takes cover with the lead Yoshi in a different file. He is playable, too. In addition to this, there are some other varieties of Red Yoshi such as Bunson the Yoshi and Apple Yoshi. They share the same transformation egg color as the regular red Yoshi himself.

Super Mario Maker 2[edit]

Red Yoshi also appears in the Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. U styles of Super Mario Maker 2. In this game, it can be found in a big red Yoshi Egg, which can be acquired by holding a normal Yoshi egg until a pop-up menu appears and selecting the Super Mushroom, or by simply dragging Mushroom onto it. When a player goes near one during gameplay, the egg will hatch and a fully-grown Red Yoshi will come out. The Red Yoshi can spit out a single fireball, or three when the player is equipped with a fire flower. Other than this, they behave the same way as a normal Yoshi, being able to walk on spiked objects in all styles and ground pound and flutter jump in the New Super Mario Bros. U style. If a level a big red Yoshi's Egg is in changes to the Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario Bros. 3 style, it will change to a big Shoe Goomba and vice versa.
