Spike is a enemy in the Yoshi series debuting in Yoshi's Story. It is a sentient creature with a sharp cone-like protrusion on their head.

Yoshi's Story[edit]
Spike first appears in Yoshi's Story. They are only found in the levels Bone Dragon Pit and Magma Castle. In gameplay, they exhibit two different behaviors.
They jump around back and forth within the area it is in or they simply jump straight up while making tiny sounds. As they do, Yoshi will take damage if he touches it. They cannot be defeated.
