Stilt Guys in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Stilt Guys are enemies in the Yoshi series. In both Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. The only way to defeat them is to first jump on them, thereby removing their stilts and making them regular Shy Guys and then the usual tactics of jumping on them, throwing an egg, or eating them will work. While on stilts, the Stilt Guys can't be eaten. If the Stilt Guy is attempted to be eaten or hit with an egg, it will just be knocked backwards. Another technique to defeat them is to keep knocking them backwards until the Stilt Guy falls into a hole. They also appear in Yoshi's Island DS and Paper Mario.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Stilt Guys appearing in Shy-Guys On Stilts.

Stilt Guy (Shy-Guys on Stilts) make their first appearance in the level Shy-Guys On Stilts it walks along the ground changing direction upon reaching the edge or a wall. If Yoshi tries to eat one from the front, it will push them back. Jumping on a Stilt Guy will cause them to lose their stilts; from there they will act just like a regular Shy Guy .

Yoshi's Story

Stilt Guy reappears in Yoshi's Story like in the previous game they act the same as before just like in the previous game attempting to eat one from the front will push them back and jumping on it will revert them to a Shy Guy.

Yoshi's Island DS

Stilt Guy appears in Yoshi's Island DS they once again exhibit the same behavior from previous games.

Yoshi's New Island

Stilt Guy reappears in Yoshi's New Island they act the same as before but there is another way to defeat them Yoshi can get behind one and eat the Shy Guy instead of jumping one to make them lose their stilts without turning into a regular Shy Guy.

Yoshi's Woolly World

Stilt Guy returns in Yoshi's Woolly World unlike in previous games it no longer uses metal stilts instead it walks on two long, thin weaving sticks but otherwise act the same as before in addition to this their stilts can traverse over spikes. Throwing a yarn ball at their stilts will briefly immobilize the Stilt Guy they are only encountered in the level Spiky Stroll.
